BleachBit is volunteer work. A small group of developers writes the cleaner rules, a much larger group of translators keeps the interface readable in dozens of languages, and users file the bug reports that keep it accurate as Windows and browsers change.
Why the license matters here
A cleanup tool asks for a lot of trust: you are handing it permission to delete files across your entire user profile. Because the source is public, anyone can read exactly which paths a cleaner touches before running it. That transparency is doing more work than any marketing claim could.
Ways to help
- Contribute code or rules. New application cleaners are small files, which makes this an unusually approachable first open source contribution.
- Translate. Interface strings change slowly, so keeping a language current is a modest, ongoing commitment.
- Report what breaks. When a browser moves its cache folder, someone has to notice. A clear bug report with your Windows version helps more than it sounds.
